Council Member Roney is the woman that is not facing the flag or reciting the Pledge of Allegiance.
If you can’t pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States, you do not need to be in any government position in that country.

Stay scared y’all. Kim is one of the only people who actually cares about the future of the city and y’all can’t get over the fact that she doesn’t respect the magic sky cloth. Get over yourselves
Then leave the country that my husband, father, mother, sisters and nephews fought for. You’re not welcome if you can’t respect this country
Many want to blaspheme those of us who find it offensive to stand for the flag. How sad. Think about it like this. It isn’t about standing for the flag as much as it is standing for those who came home under one. If you don’t have issue with her not facing the flag then how about that horrible voting history? She voted against bullet proof vests (that would have been basically free), says she represents the black communities but advocates for less policing while they plea for more police in their neighborhoods, voted against a fentanyl drug trafficking grant that would keep serious drug dealers off the streets, and had often asked for less police. She has continuously demeaned the work APD is trying to do by enforcing the laws. She claims Asheville would be safer with no police. Look around you people! In what reality does less police make sense.
Like I said, you don’t have to care about her not standing for the flag. What you should care about is her absolute disrespect for the police, her unreasonable approach to public safety, and how she voted. Look back at her history. Don’t just come on here saying how great she is- prove it. I’ve tried and I can’t find one reason why I would ever give her my vote. We need leadership. Not these extremist ideals driving Asheville into further demise. Vote Esther in November unless you want more downfall.
Kim Roney is a threat to our democracy. She is a threat to the future of our city that we fought so hard to build!
