The Planning and Zoning Commission is an advisory board to City Council. The Commission consists of seven members – five City residents appointed by City Council and two residents of the extra-territorial area of the City and appointed by Buncombe County Commissioners. The length of the term of office is three years. Information related to this committee is well-presented on the Asheville City website. So we will not duplicate it here.
One city-appointed seat is vacant as of August 27, and the application deadline for this opening is September 3. However, the City Council members on the Boards and Commissions Committee have already identified six candidates (at their July 27 meeting) to interview for the position on September 14.
This committee meets at 5:00 PM on the first Wednesday monthly at City Hall, 1st Floor Conference Room.
