WHY WE WATCH: This board only recently appeared on First Tuesday’s radar as we skimmed the minutes of its May 27, 2022 meeting. That official document states:
- “In the coming months the work of the committee will focus on the MEDICAID program as well as if EXPANSION occurs how do we roll that out.”
- “the HHS Board, in their advocacy role, could publicly identify firearm deaths as a public health problem and ADVOCATE FOR GUN CONTROL.”
Also, at the August 4, 2020, County Commissioners’ meeting, the Health & Human Services Board was thanked by DK Wesley (Assistant County Manager) for reviewing and evaluating racial disparity data in the area of public health.
