You can encourage state senator Warren Daniel to support House Bill 118 (AN ACT TO PROVIDE THAT SIX MEMBERS OF THE BUNCOMBE COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION BE ELECTED BY ELIGIBLE VOTERS FROM THE DISTRICT THOSE MEMBERS REPRESENT.)

The bill seeks to require separate ballots for each school district so voters would only elect board members in their district. Currently, all seven members are elected at-large. The bill was first introduced by State Senator Chuck Edwards in 2021. The Buncombe County School Board unanimously denounced the legislation. The Buncombe County Board of Commissioners voted along party lines to oppose the legislation. Members expressed fear that the bill would politicize school board elections. That would disturb the ability of the school board to quietly adopt liberal DEI policies and to continue opposing efforts to identify and remove socialist curriculums.

Before May 31st, NC State Senator Warren Daniel needs to hear from at least 300 of us that we support School District Voting in Buncombe County.

    If you don’t think your voice matters, I hope this Bill for School District Voting changes your mind!
    Think of it like this: You live in a neighborhood. You like McDonalds. But your neighborhood happens to be in Italy; everyone else likes pasta. So, you are out-voted every meal.
    Suddenly a Bill (rule) comes in that says, “Everyone gets to choose what meal they want in their own house.” Makes sense, right? Well, that common sense Bill (rule) is District Voting compared to At-Large voting which we now have.
    So, if you are tired of being force fed pasta, and want beef, then say something!!!
