2022 General Election

Just for the record you may be interested to know that:

  • Every single member of the current Asheville City Council (including the mayor) voted in favor of paying “reparations” to black Asheville.
  • They all voted to declare that “racism is a public health emergency”.
  • None of them have taken a public stand in support of the Asheville Police Department.
  • One current member of City council is a fearless supporter of the movement calling for steps to reduce the size and funding of the police force.  She (Kim Roney) is running for Mayor and must be defeated.
  • Roney has been endorsed by the Asheville chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America.  (You can find these delightful creatures on facebook here.)

These folks are not very interested in hearing from those who hold diverse viewpoints, and THEY NEED TO BE REPLACED!

  • Is this a good time to borrow money (while rates are the highest in a decade)?  It may indeed be a good time to BUY county bonds to acquire land for conservation and build more affordable housing.  Yet, we, the taxpayers, will watch the County Commissioners raise our property taxes to pay the bond money (and interest) back.  Tell the county to tighten its belt (as the rest of us are all doing) and think about this sometime while we are NOT in a recession and in a period of historical inflation.
