Deadline for Election Svcs to Receive Requests for Absentee Ballots

Any North Carolina voter may request an absentee ballot. If you or someone you know would like to receive their ballot by mail, there are two steps: requesting and returning. All REQUEST FORMS must be received by Buncombe County Election Services by Tuesday, Oct. 26 at 5 p.m.
Requesting Absentee Ballots:
Registered voters must submit an absentee ballot request form via one of the following two ways, online and by paper.
Online – Fill out and submit the absentee ballot request form online at the absentee ballot request portal.
By Paper – Download and fill out the English N.C. Absentee Ballot Request Form for 2021 (fillable PDF). The form comes with detailed instructions.
After completing, submit the form to the Buncombe County Election Services office in person at 50 Coxe Ave., Asheville 28801, or send by mail to PO Box 7468, Asheville 28802. In-person delivery is permitted only by the voter or a near relative.
Special Note: Military and overseas voters can access the absentee request form via this online portal.
Returning your absentee ballot:
Once your 2021 State Absentee Ballot Request Form has been received, an absentee ballot will be mailed to you. Absentee ballots must be postmarked on or before Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2021, and received by Friday, Nov. 5, at 5 p.m. Hand-delivered ballots must be received in our office by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 2 (delivered by the voter or near relative only).
