The County Board regularly holds meetings once a month for various administrative reasons. The agenda for these meetings typically includes items such as updates from staff, approving the budget, hearing feedback from the community, etc.
Absentee board meetings are meetings for the specific purpose of counting approved absentee ballots. NC Election law allows for absentee ballots to be scanned prior to Election Day, so that the results can be quickly uploaded on Election night. This process is allowed to start up to 5 weeks in advance. The County Board usually takes a few moments at the beginning of these meetings to hear updates and remind the public about upcoming events, so they still serve as a great resource for staying informed.
