The Asheville City Board of Education considered a resolution at their June 30 special meeting that seeks to infringe upon your right to keep and bear arms. They call for state and federal legislation to “prevent the establishment and operation of stores selling firearms within five miles of any school or childcare facility.” They also specifically request “that the North Carolina General Assembly immediately enact regulations that would ban the sale of “assault style” weapons including, but not limited to the AR-15 and related variants.”
The first section of the video recording of the meeting has no audio, so we must wait until the board publishes the meeting minutes to see what discussion occurred and whether the resolution was passed.
